5/5! If you're a fan of the music, I'm sure you'll very much enjoy this one.In Scar Tissue Anthony Kiedis, charismatic and highly articulate frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, recounts his remarkable life story, and the history of the band itself. Being told his deepest darkest secrets and many facts about the band that many may not know. You get to learn a lot about the life of the lead singer of one of the greatest and unique bands in the world. He even recalls being on tour with Nirvana and being able to talk and be around Kurt Cobain.Īll in all, definitely a good read. So, Eddie Vedder, the lead singer of Pearl Jam refused to perform unless The Red Hot Chili Peppers could perform too.

He recalls being told that him and the band were being told that they were not going to be performing, after they had been expected to, which would anger anyone. I remember a story where there was a show going on with The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam. One of the cool things to read were some of his experiences while on tour with the band. He pin points that as the first time he really got hooked on heroin, although he didn't become a regular user until much later. There was a line of heroin set up on the dining room table and before he left, Kiedis' father told him specifically not to do the line on the table. He was hanging out with his father, who wasn't the best dad, who had decided to head to the store real quick with the company he had with him. The first time he ever did heroin, he was around 12 years old or so, and he OD'd. One thing he really touches on throughout the book is his drug addiction, which was brought upon him quite early. He's been through more than you can imagine. Anthony Kiedis is a very interesting man. I had heard about it once before from someone and was curious, so once I got the chance, I snatched it up. When I saw this book on the shelf, I immediately bought it. It touches on many issues that flooded his life such as drug addiction, his parents, relationships between many different women, and his band mates. The book follows Kiedis' life from his birth back in 1962 to early 2004. Scar Tissue is the autobiography of Red Hot Chili Peppers vocalist Anthony Kiedis.
